The return to Spitalfields is a nostalgic one. The market holds a special draw for us as our beloved Grandad was a wholesale fruit and veg man in Spitalfield's old days and we always feel a closeness to him there. A generation on, our Mum went to Central Foundation Grammar School in Spital Square, she had brains as well as beauty, and remains a source of complete inspiration and wisdom to us.
From the outset, we couldn't think of a better place to launch our brand, designed in East London and made in Menorca. It is so important that authenticity and honesty is at the very source of everything we do and with both Menorca and East London holding such special spaces in our souls, Spitalfields became the ideal Launchpad for our fledgling company.
The East End may be a different place to the one that our Grandparents called home, but hard-work and creativity flow through the veins of the streets around E1. For us, the plethora of cultures, backgrounds, arts, music and fashion have evolved into a non-discriminating environment in which to be truly creative and inspired. This is the new East-End and a place which we think our Grandad would have grown to love again and still be proud of... and when we are in need of a more traditional East-End fix, we head on down to Kelly's Pie & Mash on Bethnal Green Road to remind us of Friday night suppers with dear old Grandad.
So three generations on, Spitalfields remains a part of our family heritage, and we remain proud of our East-End roots.
